This site was upgraded from a static HTML to a CMS system (WordPress). The look and feel of the original site is upgraded and refined to meet the standards of the modern web. The theme is built on the default twentyeleven theme but is a minimalist approach that allows the artwork to stand out on its own without distraction. The theme also preserves the elements of responsive web design that are present in the twentyeleven theme while still being tailored to suit the subject of the site. This ensures compatibility across a range of devices, both mobile and desktop.

O’Donovan’s Hotel

O’ Donovan’s Hotel or “Óstán Uí Dhonnabháin” is a sixth generation family run hotel in the heart of Clonakilty, West Cork, Ireland.
This site, unlike most of my other sites is built from scratch without using any CMS or theming engine behind it.

This is my original website, built on the GetSimple CMS with a custom theme. It is a simple site that combines the idea of graceful degradation(everything works as far back as Internet Explorer 7) with emerging HTML5 and CSS3 techniques such as CSS animations and semantic markup to produce a site is both modern yet able to function on multiple platforms.
